Mugdock Castle Tower will be open to the public from May 2018, 2-4pm and most weekends thereafter, through until the end of September. Please call 0141 956 6100 or check our website to confirm a specific date in advance. Adults £2, Children £1.50, under 5’s free.

The Fabulous Tattie Race, Lennoxtown

Wednesday 1st August, 2pm – 3pm

Is your spud a speedy spud or a starchy dud? Find out by building a mini raft and racing your potato down the river rapids. Meet at the car park first right on Station Road, Lennoxtown. Cost £1.

Can you control your canine companion in the countryside or is your best friend just barking mad? Try out our crafty agility course and fun contests. All dogs welcome, but beginners only, please. Meet in the overflow car park near the Visitor Centre. Cost £2, with proceeds going to Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Centre.

 

Bang Together a Bird Box, Boghead Wood, Kirkintilloch

Wednesday 8th August, 2pm – 3:30pm

Help out our feathered friends by building a nice cosy bird box to be put up in Boghead Wood. Join in with the Ranger Service anytime. Meet at foot of Glenwood Road off Boghead Road, G66 4DY. Bring a hammer if you have one! Free.

Kirkintilloch Collieries Walk

Saturday 18th August, 10am – 2pm

Find out about the geology of the Kirkintilloch area and the industry that arose from it then all but vanished again. Join the Ranger Service on this 6 mile circular walk visiting a nature reserve, wandering countryside corridors and the canal, and even go up a bing! Booking essential 0141 956 6100. Cost £5.

Creepy Crawlies and Conservation, Milngavie

Sunday 19th August, 10:30am – 12pm

Parents, get your hands dirty with a taster in practical conservation work while your children have a fun time hunting for insects nearby with a Ranger. Meet the Rangers at the Mains Park side of Muirlees Crescent, Milngavie G62 7JA. Turn up and join in anytime, just follow the signs. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Wear wellies. Free.

Campsie Glen – A Hike into the Past

A fascinating look at the rich history of this local beauty spot on a hike up into the lower foothills of the Campsies. This walk has steep sections on uneven ground and is partly on open hillside with no formal paths. Not suitable for young children. Booking essential 0141 956 6100. Cost £5.

 

ULTM8 WARRIOR EVENT

Mugdock, Sunday 26th August, 9am-1.30pm

Ultm8 Warrior is the UK’s first “Junior only” OCR event series! We’ll be offering heats for the following age groups 4-6yrs (1Km), 7-9yrs (2Km) and 10-13yrs (3Km). Each heat will involve 1, 2 or 3 laps of our unique Ultm8 Warrior Obstacle Course. There will be 25+ obstacles including hurdles, net crawls, ramps, mankey bars, balance beams and more!
