Mugdock Sightings

Winter Birds

Within the last month winter migrant birds have been arriving in the Country Park. Great numbers of Fieldfare and Redwing have been seen and heard flying over the Khyber Fields whilst Canadian and Greylag Geese have been resting briefly on Mugdock Loch before moving on.

Some of the UK’s resident coastal birds are now making their way inland to shelter from winter’s stormy weather. These include Cormorant, Goosander, Wigeon, and Goldeneye which can be seen on Mugdock Loch. On Peitches Moor large flocks of Goldfinches and Siskin can be seen flying from tree to tree.
