Help Our Wildlife
| | | How you can help While were able to wrap ourselves up or go indoors during this exceptionally cold spell, spare a thought for our wildlife.
Winter can be a difficult time but this winter is proving exceptionally so. Food is in short supply because of the constant covering of snow weve seen in the last few weeks. The lack of a fresh source of water can be fatal for much of our wildlife. Even a saucer of water and a few scraps of bread can make all the difference for both animals and birds during this harsh time.
Fat balls, seed and nut feeders are all great ways of helping our feathered friends throughout the winter. Look out for the ever present blackbird, robin, house sparrow and blue tit all of which, will be more than appreciative of a helping hand.
Its important to keep all feeding areas clean. Disease can be a big factor in winter mortalities as an unclean bird feeder can spread salmonella and other diseases.
