Past Times – Campsie Glen

From thriving bleach works and estates to cattle droving and a Victorian holiday destination, Campsie Glen has seen it all! Learn more about the fascinating history on a Ranger led walk through this small glen in the lee of the Campsie Fells. Booking essential 0141 956 6100. Cost £3.

Take a shot at medieval archery with the Green Hollow Bowmen in the Walled Garden. Watch the demonstration at 2pm or turn up and join in at any time. £1.

Fabulous Fossils of Lennoxtown

An event that has been 500 million years in the making! Who would have thought that Lennoxtown was once at the bottom of an ancient ocean?! Search for amazing ammonites and tremendous trilobites as well as many other delightful shell fossils on this Ranger led walk in the foothills of the Campsie Fells. Who knows what you might find! Is your spud a speedy spud or a starchy dud? Find out by building a mini raft and racing your potato down the river rapids. Meet at the car park first right on Station Road, Lennoxtown. Donations welcome.

TrailFest host guided social runs on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Choose from 5k or 10k distance and explore new trails around the park. Charity Sale in aid of Playlist For Life

As part of our 10 Year anniversary celebrations the Makkers are giving back to our local community by having a charity art sale.
We have chosen local charity Playlist for Life personal music for dementia, 50% of the sales from items selected by the individual artists and crafters will be donated to the charity. We hope you can join us over the weekend and help raise some money for this worthwhile cause.

Build a Harry Potter Birch Broom at Lenzie Moss

Friday 13th October 1pm – 3pm

Birch trees are being removed from Lenzie Moss to help the bog areas become boggy again. So let’s put the birch to good use and make a broom to fly to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Join in anytime, the Ranger Service and Friends of Lenzie Moss will be there to assist you. Follow the signs from the moss end of Lenzie Railway Station car park. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Donations welcome, includes materials.

 

Felt Brooches and Decorations. Hand Sewing Felt Workshop for Adults

Sunday 15th October 12pm- 3.30pm £22.50 per person

Join Lucy to hand stitch at least two felt brooches or hanging decorations, great to keep for yourself or give as gifts.
The workshop will include a simple project to get you started, tips on how to design your own items then a more complex project either from one of the templates provided or from your own design.

The workshop includes felt for at least two items during the workshop and pieces for another project to take home. Your take home kit will also include your needle from the workshop, some threads, stuffing, instructions and template sheets.
A tea/coffee and a piece of cake is also included, making is thirsty work.

What Do Owls Have For Dinner?

Tuesday 17th October 2pm – 3.30pm

Owls cannot digest the bones and fur of the small mammals they feed on: in the owl's stomach the bones and fur are completely cleaned then formed into a pellet and popped out the mouth of the owl! Come along and have a go at dissecting the pellets - it is truly fascinating and very popular with all ages. Meet the Ranger at the Visitor Centre. Booking essential. Cost £3.

 

Pond Monsters of South Lodge, Mugdock

Wednesday 18th October 2pm – 3:30pm

Bold backswimmers, wicked water boatmen and crafty caddisfly nymphs are just a few of the amazing creatures you might find. Join the Ranger Service to try and catch these fascinating underwater beasties. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Wear wellies and meet at South Lodge car park or follow the signs to find the Ranger. Cost £3.

 

Dig a Pond at Mugdock

Friday 20th October 10:30am – 12pm

Ponds are great for wildlife so why not pull on your wellies and come along to help the Ranger dig a new one! Messy fun for all the family. Wear wellies, gardening gloves and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty! Meet at the Visitor Centre or follow the signs to find the Ranger. Free.

Willow Basket In a Day
